When someone search for information from the search results, the search engine will bring relevant page to the searcher (human).

When I was searching from Google about search engine what it’s all about, here is

what I found;

Search Engine is a program that searches and identifies items from database that corresponds to keyword or characters specified by the users, used especially for finding particular sites on the World Wide Web.

Apart from that;

Business Dictionary said it’s a computer program that searches database and internet sites for the documents containing keywords specified by a user.

Computer Hope also said that, is a software program or script available through the internet that searches documents and files for keywords and return the results of any files containing that keywords.

Before moving further, let me ask you this question.

Assuming you are in a big city. You start by trekking around, viewing all the store in the city.

Moving from one store to another.

Collecting as much store you can in a book or list with their address.

Ranking them based on their content and features.

What will you do?

You will show that person top 10 of liquor store from the city ranking them based on
their content and features.

That is how search engine works.

Google start by crawling the web using their link to go from one page to another.

Collecting as much webpage as possible in an index form and sorting them based on their content and features.

When someone search in Google, Google rank the results and give top relevant webpage to the searcher.

This is the web address that will direct you to what you are looking for.

Your URL should not be complicated like;

But instead, your URL should look like this;




Your URL should be unique and easy to read from search engine or should be mobile friendly.


Description is another part of of the 3 main elements that affect search results.

It’s a short snippet or excerpt that describes your web content.

They are usually 50 to 150 character length or words.

Description should contain keywords.

  • URL: the URL is usually in green color. The URL is the web address to your content.
  • DESCRIPTION: It describe what your content is all about. It is usually 150 character in length. They are usually in black color.

Search engine don’t view information he way humans do.

If you look at the screenshot above you will see that human view information in 3 part.

But as for search engine, they view information in code form.

This code has to do with;
• Html tags
• Meta tags (title and description)
